adorable boogers

Posted on 10:50 PM
my kids have been looking like "those kids" these days--you know, the ones that are constantly crusty under the nose. they look very neglected even though I wipe their nose umpteen times a day much to their dismay. they usually move their heads back and forth as I try to wipe which ends up as a big smear of snot all across their faces :). so i now own the crusty kids. got some cute boogie pics though. my month of ICU is now over!!! I can back into the real world now. I do have a big presentation in about 10 days that I haven't even started that is hanging over my head like a cloud but then after that it will be smooth sailing for a big. i've got several great new pics of the girls, but i'll have to add them in small morsels rather than dumping them all at once.

6 months!

yesterday was the girls 6 month birthday! they are attempting rice cereal and they're terrible at it :). we had a fun time trying it though. lydia beat grace in the rolling over competition today too. big exciting baby things in our house which equals boring tidbits of info for everyone else--sorry. pictures are always good, so enjoy.

laundry and scones--at 4am

Posted on 5:32 AM
I have been working nights for about 5 weeks now and I've been able to sleep o.k on my nights off until tonight. I woke up at 3am wide awake. After trying to go back to sleep for about 45 minutes and telling Ryan to quit snoring 3 times I decided to give up and embrace the night. I got the dogs up (they'll get out of their crates anytime) and decided to make scones and fold some laundry. You know, all the normal stuff that people do at 4am :). This month has been more difficult (and it's only the 5th day of it) because I have only about 1-2 hours of awake time at home between shifts and if the girls are napping during that time then I don't get to be with them at all. I hate to be a whiner, but if you can't complain on your own blog, where can you complain ? :) It will get better in April--just in time for warm weather. Lydia and Grace are so much fun. We try and try to get videos of them smiling and laughing but as soon as that camera is in front of them they become very stoic. So we have a lot of very boring footage but we'll keep trying. I have rice cereal on my shopping list so we're progressing to solid foods soon (i'm waiting until the last minute to start them because they've just started to be masters of their 8 oz bottles).

What's in a Name?

When we vacation in Hilton Head, we always rent a Bicycle Built for Two (we affectionately call them B.B.F.T.s, hence the name of our blog). We know we look a little silly on such an old fashioned bike, but we love that we can go wherever we're going and at the same time have long talks about whatever is going on in our lives. It sort of symbolizes marriage--going along in life together, both working together to get things accomplished and enjoying each other's company along the way. So, when it came time to pick a name for our blog, we felt that including our beloved Bicycle Built for Two as a symbol of what we started with would be appropriate and now that Lydia and Grace are in the picture, it seems the ride is just beginning!
