siamese twins on swing

Posted on 9:24 PM
the girls got their first ride on the swings today. now the swings weren't made to put two in like this, but it worked much better this way. looks like they are joined at the butt. another fun day of vacation. so far the girls have survived the many cousins. grace did get sat on while sitting in her carseat by 18 month old bailey, but she didn't even cry.

vacation with kids

so we are learning that vacation with kids is a very different phenomenon. we pretty much expected this though so we're o.k. about it. today we got up early (it's harder to ignore the girls in the morning when they're in the same room) and tag teamed staying back at the house to watch the girls. we ventured into the pool yesterday which was the girls first time in a pool. they were uncertain at first but then splashed their little hearts out. there are 4 of their cousins here as well which makes for a pretty fun and crazy house-full.

7 months

the girls are exactly 7 months today. and to celebrate, we strapped them into carseats for multiple hours while we drove to charlotte, NC. we are on our way to hilton head, sc for vacation with my family. the trip went much faster than last time when we braved it when they were 5 weeks old (to maximize my maternity leave). we can now feed them in their carseats. don't worry, we stopped a couple of times to get them out of those darned seats to stretch--or whatever babies like to do. they did great. I'm hoping to catch up on blogging, updating pics etc during the next few relaxing days.

weight and shots

the girls are now quite immunized --got their 6 month shots the other day. Grace howled for a good 3-5 minutes and Lydia just gave a good 20 second screech and was over it. gotta love the personalities emerging. for those of you who love the mundane details, lydia weighs 14 lbs, 10 oz and grace is 14 lb 14 oz. (which is about 20th percentile) they are the same height and they both have gigantic heads (90th percentile) but so do Ryan and i so I think we're o.k. Ryan, if you see this post, i have been working on my stuff, this is my only little break so thanks for watching the girls this morning :)

What's in a Name?

When we vacation in Hilton Head, we always rent a Bicycle Built for Two (we affectionately call them B.B.F.T.s, hence the name of our blog). We know we look a little silly on such an old fashioned bike, but we love that we can go wherever we're going and at the same time have long talks about whatever is going on in our lives. It sort of symbolizes marriage--going along in life together, both working together to get things accomplished and enjoying each other's company along the way. So, when it came time to pick a name for our blog, we felt that including our beloved Bicycle Built for Two as a symbol of what we started with would be appropriate and now that Lydia and Grace are in the picture, it seems the ride is just beginning!
